Man preliminarily charged with murder after wife found dead in home

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – An Indianapolis man was preliminarily charged with murder Sunday after his wife was found dead in their home.

Police were called to a home in the 5700 block of Laurel Hall Drive around 8:10 a.m. Sunday. There were six adults and three children inside of the home at the time.

The victim’s son, Jordan Yarbro, 19, told police that he heard a strange noises coming from his parents’ bedroom.

Yarbo told police Tony Degrafreed, 50, came out of the bedroom and stabbed him in the chest. Tony then fled the home on foot. Officers arrested him near the intersection of North Arlington Avenue and Devington Road.

Rebecca Degrafreed, 47, was found dead on the bedroom floor with head trauma, according to IMPD. Police said Tony and Rebecca Degrafreed were married.

Police said Yarbo suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene. 

Tony was preliminarily charged with murder in connection with his wife’s death. The Marion County Prosecutor’s Officer will review the case and make the final charging decision.

Detectives have not released a motive in this case.
