LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – It’s auction day at the Tippecanoe County Fair, and 4-H’ers would like to cash in on their hard work.
Steer, sheep and poultry were just a few of the animals up for auction. Bidders were out in full force for a chance to take home some champion livestock. Some 4-H members saw their animals go for thousands of dollars.
Ten-year member Allison Medley said all those early mornings are now paying off.
“Myself and my family included, we take great pride in the way that we raise our animals. We’re with them every single day, and it’s a lot of work,” said Medley. “It’s really rewarding to come out to the fair and see how the outcome always turns out.”
Medley’s steer went for $3,000. She said the money is going towards college expenses as she will be attending Indiana University this fall.
