WEST LAFAYETTE. Ind, (WLFI) – One man is dead following a crash in West Lafayette Sunday afternoon.
It happened around 3:45 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 231 and Cumberland Avenue.
West Lafayette police said a grey Honda Accord driven by 84-year-old Rade Jurich was traveling eastbound on Cumberland Avenue. For an unknown reason, police said Jurich pulled into the path of a car driven by 35-year-old Sae Yeob Kim, who was traveling southbound on 231.
Jurich was transported by ambulance to IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, where he died of his injuries. His wife, 78-year-old Rajna Jurich, was a passenger in the Honda. She was transported by ambulance to St. Elizabeth East Hospital where she was treated for injuries and later released from the hospital.
Kim was not injured in the crash. A juvenile passenger in his car was treated at the scene for minor injuries, but did not need any further medical care.
Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected to be factors in the crash.
