Authorities investigate stabbing in Brookston

BROOKSTON, Ind. (WLFI) — Law enforcement in White County are investigating a report of a stabbing in Brookston late Monday night.

At approximately 11:37 p.m. Monday White County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call at a residence in Brookston, Indiana on a report on a stabbing.

When deputies arrived, they found a woman in her ’50s with a stab wound in her chest. The victim said she was at her home when a person named “Jeff” stabbed her. She told police he fled the scene in a white two-door pickup truck.

The Monticello Fire Department transported the woman to St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette for treatment.

Deputies said these cuts on the victim’s chest were located near similar cuts that were healed over.

During the investigation, deputies said discrepancies in the information the victim provided were revealed. No further information was provided.

The White County Sheriff’s Office said there are no persons of interest at this time.
