EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Southwestern Indiana police say an 18-year-old woman has died from injuries she suffered when a dune buggy she was riding on crashed.

The Vanderburgh County Sheriff’s Department says Taylor Hess was a passenger on a dune buggy driven by a man when it flipped over Monday for an unknown reason.

Hess was partially ejected from the buggy and was trapped beneath it until her father, who was at a nearby residence at the time of the crash, arrived and freed her from the wreckage.

Hess was later pronounced dead at an Evansville hospital.

The man who was driving the dune buggy was also injured and was hospitalized.
