Traffic signal to be installed at busy Lafayette intersection

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Changes are coming to an intersection in Tippecanoe County that’s about to get busier in the next few years.

Tuesday morning, the Lafayette Board of Works approved a new project at County Road 450 East and U.S. 52.

A stop light will be installed at the intersection next year.

City Engineer Jenny Leshney said the changes will make the entrance to the new GE Aviation plant more accessible and safer.

“There have been many crashes at the 450 East intersection,” Leshney explained. “The county had been looking at doing something at that location for quite some time. We wanted to go ahead and work on that in conjunction with the GE project and it gave us the opportunity to do that.”

Leshney said construction should begin sometime next spring.

The project will cost about $267,000. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
