LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Mayors Tony Roswarski and John Dennis distributed food to children at a Lafayette apartment complex on Thursday.

The two mayors teamed with Food Finders to pass out sack lunches Thursday afternoon at Claystone at the Crossing. Dozens of kids came out to meet the mayors of Lafayette and West Lafayette, and grab a bite to eat.

On the menu was roast beef sandwiches, cucumbers, grapes and milk. Mayor Dennis said it’s great to be able to offer a helping hand.

“I don’t think there’s anyone that’s from this area that doesn’t recognize that we market both Lafayette and West Lafayette as our community,” Dennis said. “If there’s anything either one of us can do — whether it be folks from the Lafayette side or West Lafayette side — to improve the quality of life in our community, we’re going to step up and do it.”

Thursday’s event was part of Food Finders Summer Food Service Program. The program helps feed hungry children during the summer when other lunch services aren’t provided. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
