HOWARD COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — A trial date has been set for the Lafayette doctor arrested in a federal drug raid.

The court entered a not guilty plea on Luella Bangura’s behalf Thursday.

Luella Bangura was arrested along with three other doctors and a Hamilton County attorney last week. Drug Enforcement Administration agents raided five offices across central Indiana that morning.

The doctors have been accused of running “cash and carry” operations selling the drug Suboxone — a synthetic heroin substitute. Bangura worked once a week at an office in Kokomo, Indiana that was raided.

Bangura is being charged in Howard County.

Investigators said Bangura wrote more than 120 prescriptions for Suboxone a day on several occasions.
