LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – An incident of road rage ended in one of the drivers fleeing the scene of a crash site in Lafayette.

Police say around 1:15 Friday morning, officers witnessed two drivers involved in a road rage incident near Saint Francis Way that was later described as someone “getting cut off.”

When police approached, both cars sped off. Officers elected not to pursue either vehicle until one of the cars crashed near McCarty Lane.

The driver then ran off, while the two passengers stayed behind. Police set up a perimeter, but were unable to locate the driver.

The two passengers were questioned and released.

Police say they named a person of interest, but do not believe he is a danger to the public at this time. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
