Lafayette All-Stars win after rain delay, Hoosier North falls

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – After a long rain delay, the Lafayette All-Stars earned a win against the Czech Republic in a game that had to be played from late Friday night into early Saturday morning.

Starting their game just after 11 p.m. Friday night, the All-Stars took the game 13-3, finishing their six inning game just before 1:30 a.m.

Earlier in first day action, the Hoosier North baseball team fell in their first match in the Colt World Series.

Hoosier North lost six to three against the team from Grand Ledge, Michigan. Zachary Hanes launched a solo home-run in the second inning for Grand Ledge. Hoosier North was down 4-0 by the start of the third as two more Grand Ledge runs scored.

Hoosier North mounted a rally in the fifth when they scored 3 runs to cut the lead to 1 run. Max Hanas’ single to right field drove in Jacob Chase and Clay Bowman. Joe House would then score from third on a Grand Ledge error.

Grand Ledge added a couple of insurance runs in the sixth to secure the 6-3 victory over Hoosier North.
