Hoosier North falls at Colt World Series to Mexico 14-9


LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The Hoosier North baseball team fell to Guasave, Mexico, 14-9 in their second game at the Colt World Series.

Jose Monajardin opened the scoring with a solo home-run for Mexico in the first. The boys from Mexico were just getting started and they eventually built a 13-1 lead heading into the sixth.

Hoosier North scored 3 runs in the sixth and 5 in the seventh. But it wasn’t enough, as Mexico hung on to a 14-9 win.

With the loss, Hoosier North will now face the team from Manila, Philippines on Monday at 2:30 p.m.

The other local team in the event, the Lafayette All-Stars, will play its next game on Sunday at 7:30 p.m. against Puerto Rico.
