Steam and Gas Power Show wraps up

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The 34th annual Steam and Gas Power show concluded Saturday.

Steam and Gas Powered tractors were the main show attraction, but there were others machine exhibited as well — from harvesters dating back to the 1910s to a cranked machine that cut up an ear of corn to make chicken feed.

Between other historical demonstrations, visitors got the chance to admire the intricate details on the machines and appreciate their legacy.

“At my age, you know, I go back there in the ’30s and ’40s and that’s what we had back then. No electricity, no inside plumbing or anything like that. So this is the kind of stuff we have and we grew up with and I still like it today,” said Morey Uerkwitz.

The three day event will be cut down to just one day next year. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
