INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police made an arrest after they found a newborn baby in a trash can inside of United Technology Carrier Corporation, on the corner of W. Morris Street and Girls School Road, Friday around 8:15 p.m.

Detectives with the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department arrested 22-year-old Briana Holland, of Indianapolis. Holland is preliminarily charged with neglect of a dependent.

Police arrested her on Saturday morning at 5 a.m.

According to preliminary investigations, police say Holland gave birth to the unnamed infant at the location and abandoned the child in the bathroom.

The child is in good condition at Riley Hospital for Children and is in custody of the Department of Child Services.

Police remind residents that they can use the Indiana Safe Haven Law, giving a person the option to give up an unwanted infant anonymously. Learn more about the law by clicking here.
