Hundreds flock to downtown Lafayette for OUTfest

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Hundreds of people flocked to downtown Lafayette Saturday night for the seventh annual OUTfest.

The event features something for everyone and includes live music, a drag show, great food and even a beer garden. The event is sponsored by Pride Lafayette.

Purdue Director of LGBT Lowell Kane said events like OUTfest give the LGBT community chances for outreach, as well as the chance to help educate people that may have questions about their lifestyle.

“OUTfest is a wonderful opportunity for campus and and the community to work together for outreach, education support, and really to build camaraderie across the river,” said Kane. “It also helps engage the campus to raise awareness for the LGBT community and to help build tolerance initiatives for Lafayette and West Lafayette communities.”

The event began at 4 Saturday night and wrapped up around midnight.
