MIAMI COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) –  A Logansport woman is in critical condition Sunday following a crash near Peru, Indiana.

It happened around 2:30 Sunday afternoon just south of U.S. 31 and County Road 300 South.

Indiana State Police Trooper Ezariah Bricknell said a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, driven by 17-year-old Floyd Smith, of Kokomo, was traveling southbound on U.S. 31. For an unknown reason, Smith drove across the median and into the northbound lanes of U.S. 31. Police said he struck a 2013 Ford Edge, driven by 33-year-old Megan Burns, of Warsaw.

A passenger in the Impala 22-year-old Terra Hildebrand, of Logansport, was airlifted from the crash scene to a Fort Wayne hospital with life threatening injuries. Smith was also flown from the crash scene to a Fort Wayne hospital. Burns suffered cuts in the crash.

Police don’t suspect alcohol as a factor in this crash. Officers allegedly found approximately 20 grams of marijuana and an unidentified powdered substance in the Impala.
