LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The Lafayette All-Stars advanced to the semifinals of the Colt World Series with a 3-2 win over Puerto Rico.

The game was scoreless until the fifth inning when Matthew Roop’s single scored Trevor Smith.

Puerto Rico responded when Allan Berrios cranked a 2-run homer over the left field wall in the top of the sixth inning to put the Caribbean team on top.

The All-Stars were not to be denied. They tied the game in the bottom half when Carter Bridge’s base hit drove in Adam Lovell to square things up.

The bases were then loaded for Austin Turner who grounded out to short, but Puerto Rico could not convert the double play. Bridge reached home from third, scoring the game-winning run in the process.

The All-Stars next game will be on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. They will face the winner of Monday evening’s matchup between Puerto Rico and the Czech Republic. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
