BROOKSTON, Ind. (WLFI) – A bus that was reported stolen from Frontier High School comes to a stop in a Brookston home.
Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s deputies were tipped off to a potential reckless driver on Tyler Road near Battle Ground. Deputies say when they came upon the bus it was driving slowly, but swerving from one side of the road to the other.
The bus continued north on State Road 43 into White County. After the driver of the bus ignored the police’s lights and sirens, stop sticks were dispatched to attempt to flatten the tires on the bus.
The bus then turned into a residential neighborhood in Brookston smashing through a hedge row and coming to a stop after crashing into the garage.
“We were actually forced to deploy stop sticks twice. The vehicle still did not stop. It turned on to…43 and 18 on South Ripley Street and actually collided with a home. Thankfully, there were no injuries involved,” said Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Deputy Alex Feistel.
After further investigation, authorities were able to determine that the driver was a 12-year-old boy from the area not an impaired driver.
