Hundreds gather at vigil for victims of Monticello shooting

Monticello Shooting Vigil

MONTICELLO, Ind. (WLFI) – Family, friends and community members gathered in the parking lot at Jordan Manufacturing in Monticello Thursday evening. They came together to remember the victims of Tuesday’s fatal shooting.

Delia Gonzalez, 43, and Agustin Oliver, 42, were shot and killed earlier this week in the parking lot of the White County business.

Oliver’s mother, as well as a pastor, spoke to the crowd at a candlelight vigil. Musicians also performed songs and hymns in English and Spanish.

Sylvia Aguilar is friends with Oliver’s sister. She says he was a good father who constantly made her and others laugh. She says the pain is deep, but the community support for the family is strong.

“Their pain, it’s not going to go away. But just for them to have support from everybody, I think it’s going to be a lot easier for them to go through this,” said Aguilar.

When Jordan Manufacturing reopened after the shooting it offered counseling services for its employees.

According to the White County Sheriff’s Office, Israel Rogel, 42, shot Gonzalez and Oliver and then shot himself. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
