LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The YWCA pool in Lafayette officially reopened Thursday after being closed for the past five years.

The pool was able to reopen thanks to more than $100,000 in donations. The facility will host many types of programs from aquacise to swim programs, like iSWIM masters and even Boilermaker Aquatics.

Former Boiler and Olympic gold medalist David Boudia was also on hand for the event. YWCA officials hope the renovated pool will bring more people to downtown.

“We love that it’s right downtown, so hopefully folks in this community right around here can walk to it and we can serve the downtown area,” said YWCA Executive Director Debi Debruyn.

Swim lessons for people of all ages will also be offered at the pool starting on Aug. 25.
