LPD adds 5 more officers to the force

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The Lafayette Police Department has five new officers after a swearing-in ceremony Friday morning.

Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski welcomed Neil Chidalek, Joesph Dorroll, Cassandra Leuck, Evan McCain and Dustin Rusk to the force.

Family and friends watched as the new officers raised their hand and swore to protect and serve. Leuck, a 2011 McCutcheon graduate, said she’s always wanted to be involved in law enforcement.

“I’m very honored to be a part of the Lafayette Police Department,” Lueck said. “It’s been a very grueling process getting to this point. I’m just honored to be here and be with the guys I was hired on with.”

Leuck said her military training has helped her transition to law enforcement.

“It will give me the confidence to do the job I need to do to protect the citizens of Lafayette and to serve them to the best of my ability,” Leuck said. “It’s honor and integrity, and upholding the law, and serving the citizens of Lafayette.”

Lafayette Police Chief Patrick Flannelly gave a speech discussing the role of a police officer and what is expected from the new recruits.
