LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Thousands of school supplies will be distributed to families in the Greater Lafayette area Saturday morning. The line started forming around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.
The Salvation Army’s 19th annual Tools for School campaign gives students the supplies they need for free. Major Pat Irvine said the donations from the community have helped with the success of the program. She said kids will be prepared to start the new school year.
“We have shoes, boots, gently used clothing. We have the school supplies that are on the school list, so we’ve done the very best we can to provide most of the supplies that are on the list, so they should have a sufficient amount to start the school year,” said Irvine.
Irvine said if you plan on attending, bring proof of income, a social security card and a photo ID. The distribution will start at 9 a.m. and last until 1 p.m.
