Lafayette home robbed after residents hit with a handgun

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Two Lafayette residents say they were hit with a handgun after their home was broken into early Saturday morning.

According to Lafayette police, two people reported forced entry into their residence on the 1300 block of South Street around 2:30 a.m. They described the individuals as being 5-feet-8, with stocky builds, wearing bandannas and hooded sweatshirts.

The residents told police that a handgun was displayed and used to strike both of them. Their injuries were minor and later refused medical treatment.

The resident told police that the two people fled on foot after taking personal property from their residence.

Lafayette police set up a perimeter, but have not found any persons of interest at this time.
