Food Finders receives a 53-foot long donation

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A 53-foot long donation will help keep hundreds of kids and families from going hungry.

Wabash National donated a refurbished refrigerated trailer to Food Finders Food Bank Monday afternoon. It replaces a 10-year-old used trailer.

Food Finders officials said it will make their operations more smooth and secure. Sometimes they would have to turn a donation down because their old trailer wasn’t in good shape.

“There is enough food in this country to feed everybody. But getting it where it needs to be, getting it into the hands of the people that need it, is really hard,” Food Finders Executive Director  Katy Bunder said. “We deal with logistics and transportation every day. This just made our life a lot easier.”

The trailer will go into use right away for the backpack program and help Food Finders provide 500 more backpacks for Montgomery County.

The refurbished trailer is valued at $20,000. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
