WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The Boilermaker football team traded their practice gear for the game day uniforms at Purdue Media Day.
Coach Hazell’s boys posed for the camera’s and enjoyed showing their photogenic side.
“It’s fun. It’s a good time to get with your buddies and take a bunch of silly pictures and stuff,” said junior center Robert Kugler. “It’s good to get out here and get the whole team together.”
The media frenzy at Mollenkomp Athletic Center is a new experience for freshman linebacker Ja’Whan Bentley.
“It’s definitely something different. It’s my first opportunity to be in this, so I’m definitely living out every moment and cherishing it,” said Bentley.
“It’s always interesting on media day to find out where you going to be at the end of the season,” said Purdue head football coach Darrell Hazell. “What’s this picture going to represent four or five months from now?”
For sophomore quarterback Danny Etling, the media hype motivates him when he looks back on past Purdue teams.
“When they talk about teams, you look at the 2001 Rose Bowl picture. They show that team picture that they took at the beginning of the year, you know,” said Etling. “What’s it going to say underneath our picture? Is it going to say one-and-eleven again or Rose Bowl champions?”
The Boilers season opener is on Saturday, Aug. 30 against Western Michigan at Ross-Ade Stadium.
