Fresh City Market offers a fresh take on groceries

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Greater Lafayette’s newest grocery store is bringing fresh food from the farm to your table. Fresh City Market offers all the items you can find at a regular supermarket plus a concentration of locally grown and Hoosier-made products.

Owner Jeff Maurer visited News 18 This Morning and spoke about the market’s origins. “We started five years ago on the University of Wisconsin’s campus and discovered quickly how this next generation wants to eat healthier, more local and more nutritiously.”

The West Lafayette storefront, which opened Monday, sits at 720 Northwestern Ave. across from Mackey Arena. It boasts its own deli and bakery with items made from scratch daily, employs five in-store sushi chefs and its own Caribou Coffee franchise.

But perhaps most impressive is its partnership with the Purdue Butcher Block. Maurer remarked that when it comes to meat, you “can’t get any more local. It’s literally a mile away from the store.”

Fresh City Market is open every day from 6 a.m. to midnight.
