Registered sex offender found guilty of attempted production of child porn

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A man who police believe drove to Plainfield Indiana to meet a 14-year-old for sex was found guilty on Wednesday.

The 65-year-old registered sex offender was found guilty for attempting to produce child pornography, travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct, transporting child pornography, possessing child pornography and offense by a registered sex offender.

In a release evidence showed John Alan Lewis meet with a 14-year-old from November 2011 until May of 2012. Police say Lewis sent several images with minors engaging in sexually activity via email.

In September of 2012 Lewis rented a car in Lima Ohio to Plainfield Indiana to pick up a 14-year-old to perform sexual acts with them. Lewis was arrested when he arrived to the location.

In his possession were three electronic devices, those each had images depicting a minor who was fully nude and involved in sexually explicit conduct.

Since September 2012 Lewis has been in federal custody. Lewis may serve a mandatory minimum sentence of 35 years and a $25,000 fine.

Lewis is awaiting a sentencing date.
