West Lafayette restaurant accepts bitcoin

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A West Lafayette restaurant becomes one of the first businesses in the area to use bitcoin transactions.

Khana Khazana made the decision to accept the electronic currency earlier this week. It’s the first restaurant in Greater Lafayette to do so.

Restaurant manager Anita Kumar said 10 customers have already paid using bitcoin. She said by accepting Bitcoin payments, they are saving money that could go towards restaurant improvements.

“It’s a lot because it’s three percent of the whole sale every month that we are paying to our credit card company,” said Kumar.

The Purdue Bitcoin Club has helped Khana Khazana install software to accept Bitcoin transactions. Members said they have talked to more than 30 business about accepting Bitcoin payments.
