Garage sale raises money for a local non-profit

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Friday is the first day of Joyful Journey Adult Day Service’s garage sale fundraiser.

The garage sale got underway at 7:30 a.m. Friday at 600 Lindberg Road in West Lafayette. Joyful Journey Adult Day Service has been accepting donations for over a year in order to sell those items in the garage sale fundraiser. All the proceeds will go towards a new building at the site for the non-profit organization.

The sale has all kinds of things, new and used, from books and DVDs to appliances and clothing. Organizers say garage sale also has some great deals.

“On certain tables — and that’s most of the stuff that’s under the tent — anything that you can carry in your arms without the aid of a basket, or a box or a bag, for five bucks,” said Joyful Journey President Cathy Benner.

The community has been taking advantage of the garage sale’s everything-you-can-carry-for-five-dollars deal.

“The community has come around and they have purchased a lot of things. They keep getting their arms full of five dollars and they’re being very honest about it,” said Benner. “We’ve had a great turn out.”

The sale will go on from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday night and again on Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m.
