LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Lafayette police responded to the Cambridge Estates apartment complex Sunday night after a report of a shooting.

Police arrived and found Donnell Jackson with a gunshot wound to his left leg.

Jackson told police he and and a friend were walking on Denham Court when the two heard gunshots. The pair ran into an apartment, and police say it was when the two finally calmed down that Jackson realized he had been shot in the leg.

Officers say it was dark, so Jackson was unable to determine what the shot originated.

The man was taken to St. Elizabeth East where he was treated and released.

Police said they’re still investigating where the shot came from. They believe this was a random shooting and not a targeted attack.
