WARREN COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) — Authorities are investigating a fatal crash that occurred on S. River Road in Warren County.
According to the Warren County Sheriffs Office, a report came in at 10:30 a.m. of a vehicle spotted flipped and over mostly hidden in shrubbery just off S. River Road. Once emergency crews arrived, the male driver inside the car was pronounced dead on scene.
The vehicle was traveling south bound on S. River Road, when deputies said for unknown reason it left the roadway and landed in shrubbery knocking down several trees in the crash.
Chief Deputy Bill Miller said it is unknown at this time when the crash actually occurred because the vehicle was hidden in shrubs. Detectives are continuing to investigate the answer to that question, among others.
“On this road, it would have been something that would have been found in a short time,” Miller said. “But due to the heavy rain that we’ve had this morning and the overcast, the vehicle was very well over the embankment so it was hard to spot.”
According to Miller, drugs and alcohol may be factors in the crash. He added that heavy rain may have also contributed.
No information on the victim is being released at this time. Warren County deputies said the investigation is ongoing.
S. River Road was closed for one and a half hours, deputies said.
