MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – The southbound lanes on the U.S. 231 Bridge over Sugar Creek in Montgomery County will close Monday, INDOT officials said.
According to the Indiana Department of Transportation, the contractor will be pouring the bridge deck approaches along with a new surface in the passing lane on the southbound bridge. Southbound lanes over the Sugar Creek Bridge will close right after midnight on Monday, Aug. 25 and reopen Wednesday, Aug. 27 by 6 a.m.
INDOT officials said a detour will be in place for those traveling south. Traffic will be taken south onto Lafayette Avenue, then east onto U.S. 136 — or Market Street — then back to U.S. 231 in Crawfordsville, Ind. Police will be assisting motorists at certain spot along the detour from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. each day.
The bridge deck overlay project on U.S. 231 was awarded to Schutt-Lookabill Co., Inc. for $1.4 million. The project is scheduled for completion by Sunday, Aug. 31.
