WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLF) – A few dozen veterans and veteran supporters hit the links for charity Saturday.

The drove and putted across the Birck Boilermaker Golf Complex, raising funds for the Wounded Warriors Project. The organization helps veterans adjust to life back home, particularly by remaining active.

In attendance at Saturday’s event was the Stand Up and Play Foundation. The organization donated a “para-golfer” to local veteran Matt Bowman. Playing golf was a past-time with his father before losing his legs in Afghanistan. Bowman said being able to swing the club and play the course with his Dad was special.

“Ever since then, this is really the first summer since the injury three and a half years that I’ve able to get back out here and back on the course,” said Bowman.

The event also featured a silent auction of autographed items to help raise more money for the Wounded Warriors Project.
