Police: Drunk driver runs into statue

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Purdue police said a suspected drunk driver knocked over a statue on Purdue’s campus.

It happened Thursday morning outside Pao Hall. Police said they got a call from a local bar wanting help with an unruly customer.

The bartender told police the patron got into a car with another man. They said the car started driving the wrong way down Wood Street.

Police found the driver at Pao Hall’s bronze horse statue. They said the driver ran into the statue and knocked it over.

The driver, who police suspect was drunk, was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. The passenger was found near the statue with minor injuries.

Police are not releasing the names of the two men involved.
