SYRACUSE, Ind. (AP) — Police say one man was killed and two others seriously hurt in a gunfight involving possible bounty hunters in a neighborhood along a northern Indiana lake.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Sgt. Chad Hill says three men purportedly trying to capture 56-year-old Gary Helman on a warrant for failure to appear in court went Monday evening to his home near Lake Wawasee. That’s when a gun battle erupted, fatally injuring Helman.

Hill says police found Helman dead in a bedroom. His brother Larry Helman also was shot, along with Tad Martin of Osceola, one of the alleged bounty hunters.

Hill says the injured men were taken to Fort Wayne hospitals. No arrests have yet been made.
