LPD: 12-year-old girl found safe after 10 hours of searching

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Lafayette police ended their search for a 12 year old missing girl early Wednesday morning, after they searched for nearly 10 hours.

Police said Selena Hawkins didn’t come home from Tecumseh Middle School on Tuesday.

Detective Scott Galloway said the girl was found to be safe at a friend’s house around 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Hawkins was in police custody as of 7:15 a.m. and was expected to be reunited with her family.
