LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — High school students interested in learning about city government are encouraged to apply as the City of Lafayette is now accepting applications for the Mayor’s Youth Council.

Lafayette City Clerk Cindy Murray said they are now accepting applications for the 2014-2015 council. The Mayor’s Youth Council provides high school students an opportunity to volunteer with community organizations, advise the Mayor on youth-related issues, participate in special events and projects as requested by the Mayor and, of course, to learn about city government.

Previous projects completed by the Mayor’s Youth Council were designing the new vinyl wraps on the city’s recycling trucks and designing a mural for the overpass at Ferry and 18th streets.

Applicants must be a high school student and a Lafayette resident to apply. Applications are due by Sept. 19. To download an application, click here.
