Local musician gets major play in movie

Fergus Daly

TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – Local musician Fergus Daly is getting some of his tunes put into a movie that premieres the last weekend of August.

The film is called “Jackie and Ryan” and it’s playing at the Venice Film Festival in Italy. The movie stars Katherine Heigl and is directed by Daly’s high school friend Ami Canaan Mann. Daly said he sent her some of his music and it fit the mood of her movie.

“She tried various artists and every time she tried one of my songs the scene worked,” said Daly. “There’s a lot of emotional space in the movie and in the music, so I think the two make a good match.”

Daly’s band is also currently recording a new album. They hope to have it finished by sometime this fall.
