Two LPD officers receive promotions

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – The Lafayette Police Department promoted two of its detectives Thursday.

Brad Bishop was promoted to captain and Brian Gossard was promoted to lieutenant. Lafayette Mayor Tony Roswarski was at the ceremony to swear in the newly promoted officers.

Capt. Bishop has been with Lafayette Police Department since 1998 and is replacing Capt. Chris Downard, who retired earlier this month.

Bishop said he is excited to be named captain and credits his family for helping him get here.

“My wife gets all of the credit for that. She keeps us together. She is really the one who deserves the credit for me standing here today because without her, it wouldn’t happen,” said Bishop.

Lt. Brian Gossard has been with the Police Department since 2003 and is filling the opening left by Capt. Bishop.

Lafayette police are also in the process of choosing three officers to promote to sergeant.
