Give your tailgating experience the extra Purdue touch with the Boilermaker Butcher Block

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – Don’t wait until the football game to show off your Purdue pride, show everyone you bleed gold and black while you tailgate by grilling meat from the Boilermaker Butcher Block.

The Boilermaker Butcher Block is a part of the Department of Animal Sciences in the College of Agriculture. It’s a retail outlet that sells to the public, and this year it wants to be a main staple of every fan’s tailgating experience.

Members of the block made a live appearance on News 18 This Morning to tailgate with the morning team.

Alan Mathew, Animal Sciences department head, explained how the Boilermaker Butcher Block works.

“Anytime up to Wednesday before the game, you can order online conveniently. We have two kinds of bratwursts. We have beef and pork burgers. The meats are then delivered to two stations at Ross-Ade Stadium close to tailgating areas. As a tailgater, you just come over, pick up your meat and go put it on the grill. And you’re good to go,” he said.

Again, orders must be placed by 5 p.m. Wednesday before home football games. Then on game day, you can pick up your meat at Gate G at Ross-Ade or the Purdue West Shopping Center anywhere from one to four hours before kick-off. Then, the meat is yours to enjoy as you tailgate with friends.
