DELPHI, Ind. (WLFI) — The former treasurer of the Delphi Youth Baseball League has been arrested for theft, according to ISP.

Indiana State Police report that Wednesday, Aug. 20 Janell Workinger, 34, of Delphi, was arrested on a charge of theft for taking money from the Delphi Youth Baseball League.

The investigation, which began in March, revealed charges that were not associated with the baseball league. A new treasurer had taken over the position formerly held by Workinger, and while checking the account books the new treasurer noticed charges not associated with the league.

Detectives determined Workinger had allegedly paid personal bills from the baseball league bank account totaling $7,799.76. After the case was turned over to the Carroll County Prosecutor’s Office, a warrant was issued for Workinger.

ISP said Workinger was booked into the Carroll County Jail and released on her own recognizance on a charge of theft of money from the Delphi Youth Baseball League.

State police said the investigation remains ongoing.
