EARL PARK, Ind. (WLFI) – The weekend-long Earl Park Festival wrapped things up with a dodgeball tournament Monday.

The tournament was organized by the Benton Central wrestling team. Benton Central wrestling coach Lee Lukaska said the tournament is the main fundraiser the put together throughout the year. This year nearly 20 teams signed up in the youth and open divisions — a number that continues to increase each year.

“We don’t advertise it. It pretty much advertises itself,” said Lukaska.”When you get kids with a ball in their hand to throw it at someone else, to get out and jump around a little bit and let some energy out, it advertises itself.”

The tournament raises nearly $1,000 every year for the Benton Central High School wrestling team. The money is you used to help families that cannot afford equipment and shoes.

“It’s kind of helping families out and that’s the way we look at it,” said Lukaska.
