New assisted living community coming to Lafayette

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) – A new assisted living community is coming to Lafayette, but the new owners are no strangers to the area.

American Senior Communities purchased 9.5 acres of land on Park East Boulevard last week for $950,000.

The site will become Aster Place, a 115-unit community with 18 additional independent living apartments.

The location is in the Cascada Business Park, just south of the east side Walmart, in view of IU Health Arnett Hospital.

It’s the second new assisted living community to come to Lafayette in less than 16 months, along with one currently under construction at the site of the former Home Hospital.

“I think the next 20 years, we’re going to see a big boom in all types of health care — support and supply — that is geared toward the Baby Boomers as they are starting to retire,” said Doug Anderson, owner and principal broker for Candor Realty.
