TIPPECANOE CO., Ind. (WLFI) – Law enforcement are searching for a man who they believe fired several shots at a woman driving a car away from an apartment complex over the weekend.

According to the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and West Lafayette police officers responded to WIllowbrook West Apartments around 3:30 a.m. Sunday after dispatch received multiples calls about shots being fired at the complex.

The shots were reported to be fired between Building 7 and 8. Once law enforcement arrived on scene, they heard a loud commotion of about 15 people on the second floor of Building 8. People were removed from the apartment after deputies heard there was an injured person among them.

Deputies said there were no injuries reported at the scene. Neighbors at the complex provided law enforcement with information concerning the shots being fired.

They told deputies there were two women arguing in the parking lot when one of them got into a red car and took off. A man in white shirt then fired shots at the car. Deputies found three shell casings and one vehicle hit by stray bullets. The man who fired the gun and the woman who fled in the car have not been found.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Tippecanoe County Sheriff’s Office at 765-423-9388 or use the anonymous WeTip Hotline at 800-78-CRIME.
