WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The leader of the West Lafayette Community School Corporation has been named the 2015 Superintendent of the Year for District 4.
Superintendent Rocky Killion has been honored by the Indiana Association of Public School Superintendents for his unique financial crisis resolution.
Since accepting the superintendent’s job in 2007, Killion has been able to continue education success and retain faculty and staff. Prior to coming to West Lafayette, Killion held the assistant superintendent position at Lake Central School Corporation since 1999.
Killion also served on numerous community boards and organizations — Purdue Community Relations Council, Purdue Teacher Education Council, the Greater Lafayette Chamber of Commerce as the public school representative, and the Tippecanoe County Read to Succeed initiative.
Winners are selected by other superintendents within each district. District 4 includes Benton, Clay, Fountain, Greene, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, Tippecanoe, Vermillion, Vigo and Warren counties.
As one of eight winners, Killion has the possibility to represent Indiana in the American Association of School Administrators National Superintendent of the Year program. News 18 will let you know if Killion was chosen once that information becomes available.
