WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Friday night, downtown Lafayette will come alive with lots of special shopping options for art lovers. It’s the last Gallery Walk of the season and it’s themed Go Wild on Ferry Street.

Artist Marie Henderson and Bindery Artist’s Studios manager Angela Taylor were on News 18 at Noon on Wednesday to explain the meaning behind this year’s theme.

“It’s our attempt to have people come to Ferry Street and see the two great art venues that are there this Friday,” Henderson said.

She said the venues are Duncan Hall, located at Sixth and Ferry streets, and the Bindery Artist’s Studios, located upstairs from Lafayette Printing near Fifth and Ferry streets.

“We don’t have construction in our area so come on over,” said Henderson. “To encourage people to come to both events, we’re going to have a little stamp card. They’ll get a stamp at each place and then after they’ve gone to their second location, they get a secret wild prize.”

Taylor said there’s an artist reception available at both locations along with the “wild theme” carried over in the artwork on display.

“At the Bindery Artist’s Studios, we’ll have Jennifer Reitmeyer in Studio 11 and a guest artist Judy Titche,” Taylor said about the “Indigenous” display.

According to the Tippecanoe Arts Federation, both artists worked together to create pieces highlighting the indigenous flora and fauna presented in their two distinct styles. The works blend and contrast with each-other to create a thought provoking environment.

Duncan Hall will present “Wild Things: Art Inspired by Nature and Nurtured by Wild Imaginations.” The display celebrates three dynamic, award-winning artists.

“We are going to have the acrylic work [Impressionistic Acrylics] of Cheryl Kaldahl and the photography from Africa of Lea Foster,” Henderson said in regards to Duncan Hall. “I’ll be showing my abstract work [Mixed Media] and we’ll have live music from the Bach Chorale Singers, [Lisa and Annalise Drake, and Cheryl and Aura Lee].”

The Columbian Park Zoo will also provide “wild animals” for a mini zoo, Henderson said.

Go Wild on Ferry Street will take place Friday, Sept. 16, 6-9 p.m., along Ferry Street in downtown Lafayette.
