Jaren Jackson Jr. commits to Michigan State

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — It’s a familiar recruiting outcome for Purdue basketball.

Jaren Jackson Jr. verbally commits to Michigan State, picking the Spartans over the Boilermakers and several other schools.

Listed as the 15th best recruit in the country by Rivals.com, Jackson was one of coach Matt Painter’s top target for the Class of 2017.

The 6-foot-10, 220-pound forward tweeted this morning, “I have an appreciation and respect for what every school and its basketball program has to offer. My decision is to continue my academic and athletic career at Michigan State.”

The five-star recruit, who plays for La Lumiere School in LaPorte, Indiana, chose Michigan State over Purdue, Maryland, Notre Dame and Georgetown.
