LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — The city of Lafayette is looking to make parking improvements around upper Main Street from Sixth to 11th streets.
There was a forum Thursday night to gather public input on downtown parking problems and solutions.
Business owners and residents would like to see more spaces, more signage and possibly more public use of privately owned lots.
Economic development director Dennis Carson said a study will take place over the next several months.
“What we’re trying to do is get ahead of things. Because as we’re seeing more development downtown, we’re seeing more people living downtown, more people coming downtown for business, restaurants, nightlife and things like that. So, we kind of want to get out in front of it,” said Carson.
A survey is available until Friday. Nearly 400 people have filled it out, as of Thursday night.
