LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLF) – Downtown Lafayette was filled with people Saturday for this year’s OUTfest.
The festival is a celebration of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and ally community. This year’s theme was Love Is Love.
Pride Lafayette organizes the event, and it’s the organization’s biggest fundraiser.
Pride’s goal is to increase public awareness of the LGBTA community and to celebrate diversity. Participants and organizers all agree the event helps bring the community together.
“You can just come and be who ever you are and celebrate who you are,” Pride president Rick Puckett said. “That’s what it’s all about, it’s about celebrating who we are.”
Performer Van Stokes said, “Everybody’s having a great time, really. Dancing, singing, everybody wants to make everything different, but everyone’s the same. It’s just they have different views on life.”
Organizers said proceeds from the event will go toward operational costs for the Pride Community Center, which helps give back to the community.
