WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Mark Wasikowski’s recruiting strategy is becoming clear.
The new Purdue baseball coach is going after local talent. Central Catholic’s Ben Metzinger is the latest hometown kid to commit to the Boilermakers.
“I am very excited and thankful to say that I have committed to Purdue University to continue my baseball and academic careers. Thanks to everyone that has helped me along the way. Boiler Up,” Metzinger tweeted Monday night.
In his junior season for the Knights, Metzinger batted .375 with 17 extra base hits.
His decision comes a day after teammate Tyler Powers committed to the Gold and Black, and two days after McCutcheon’s Tyson Scheumann announced his commitment to the program.
