LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) — The possibility of bringing back a trash fee in Logansport is now off the table for 2017.

Along with other ideas, officials considered reinstating the fee as a way to help fill a multimillion dollar budget shortfall.

Mayor Dave Kitchell said while the plan was nixed for next year, officials may take a look at bringing it back for 2018.

“The trash fee in itself in its current form is not sustainable,” Kitchell said. “So we’re going to have to look at other areas of the budget to see what we can do and other revenue streams to see if we can pay for it with that.”

Kitchell said the finalized budget for 2017 will be submitted in November.
